Course Description
Whether you’re new to teaching group guitar, are interested in starting a group, or have experience teaching guitar in school, there is something for everybody at this workshop. Bring a guitar and play along as we explore the unique educational properties of learning the guitar and how you can keep the learning authentic and true to the instrument and its most famous musicians. We will also be exploring how to incorporate the instrument into regular classroom instruction with only a few guitars in your arsenal!
Course Objectives
This workshop aims to:
1. Help attendees understand the unique learning properties of guitar-based music.
2. Help attendees increase their skills on the guitar.
3. Help attendees gain practical skills and be exposed to a variety of ways to approach guitar-based music in the classroom.
Learning Outcomes
Participants will:
1. Gain skills to help them become more confident, culturally relevant, and equitable guitar facilitators.
2. Become more comfortable with the unique learning properties of the guitar.
3. Immerse themselves in other ways to facilitate guitar instruction without the need for a class set.
