Course Description
How can we use Arts Integration to deepen and support the connection students feel with academic learning? What does it look like when using the creative process as pedagogy? This workshop will give an overview of the three main styles of arts curriculum used in schools, model how to use the Creative Process as pedagogy and provide participants with practical examples of arts integration experiences. Music, drama, storytelling, poetry, movement and visual arts will be connected to literacy and numeracy skills at the primary level, supporting student creativity and understanding.
Course Objectives
During the workshop, you will:
1. Differentiate between Arts as Curriculum, Arts-Enhanced Curriculum and Arts Integrated Curriculum.
2. Understand how to support students using the Creative Process through open-ended questions.
3. Gain some ready-made integrated experiences to use in the primary classroom.

By the end of this workshop, you will be able to:
1. Identify and differentiate between the three main styles of arts curricula in schools.
2. Use open-ended questions to support students’ creative process.
3. Create a process lesson plan integrating at least three creative arts modalities with academic content.
