Course Description
Have you ever wondered what it would look like to implement different musical approaches within a single lesson? In this workshop, Jessica will lead you through a lesson that merges rhythmic speech, the 3 stages of prepare-present-practice, original composition, and movement. You’ll learn how to use ideas from MLT, Kodaly, Orff, and Dalcroze approaches to keep your students involved, learning, and creating.
Course Objectives
During the workshop, you will:
1. Learn how to use 4 different teaching approaches to teach one lesson.
2. Recognize that different teaching approaches can work together in a seamless way.
3. Understand that a variety of styles of music can be taught with different approaches.
Student Learning Outcomes
By the end of this workshop, you will be able to:
1. Practice counting rhythms with students by echo counting.
2. Help students deconstruct a song by identifying musical notes and rhythmic patterns together.
3. Engage students in movement activities by leading them in mirroring movements.
