Course Description

Organization is a must for all music teachers! While most music teachers are familiar with the Google Workspace for Education tools, few harness its full power. This lesson will include an overview of Gmail and Google Calendar, as well as an exploration of the lesser-known features in both tools. You’ll learn strategies to help you spend less time at the computer and more time doing what you love – making music with your students!

Course Objectives

During this workshop you will:

Learn how to use and customize your Gmail
Learn how to use and customize your Google Calendar
Understand how to include others in events by sharing calendars, inviting guests, or creating appointments

By the end of this workshop you will be able to:

Customize Gmail settings to best meet your needs
Archive, snooze, and schedule emails with Gmail
Create events and appointment schedules in Google Calendar

Theresa Hoover

Theresa Hoover is a music educator, speaker, and writer. She is an advocate for student voice in the music room and works to empower students throughout their musical experiences and help teachers transform their classrooms to become student-centered learning environments. Theresa has taught music in a variety of settings, most recently teaching middle school band in Northern Virginia. Theresa is a Google for Education Certified Trainer and Innovator, frequently working with teachers to help integrate technology into their music classes. She is the author of the book, Empowering Ensembles With Technology, and the co-author of Pass the Baton: Empowering All Music Students. Theresa is currently working towards a PhD in Music Learning and Teaching at Arizona State University and teaches undergraduate music education classes.
