Course Description
Music Technology Projects – The Art of Storytelling is a 2.5 hour course designed for teachers to learn how to engage their students in creative music technology projects. Content is presented at the middle school level but can easily be adapted for elementary or high school students by scaffolding in support or additional requirements.
Teachers will learn how to use The Art of Storytelling as a way to engage their students in expressive music technology projects, complete with five examples and demonstration of actual student work. All projects include downloads of the materials needed to complete the projects with your own students.
All projects utilize a free digital audio workstation (DAW), SoundTrap (www.soundtrap.com), and a free film editing program, ShotCut (https://shotcut.org/). These are both powerful, free programs that students can easily use in the classroom. If you have access to paid programs (i.e., Ableton and Premiere Pro), they can easily be substituted.
