Course Description
Seeking for ways to encourage musicianship, ownership, and advocacy within your middle school general music classroom? In this workshop, you’ll take an interactive look into implementing portfolios into your classroom. We’ll talk about how you’ve already used portfolios in your classroom, ways you can do so if it’s brand new to you, and discuss new ideas you can implement.
Course Objectives
During the workshop, you will:
1. Learn the 3 proactive planning areas portfolios help with.
2. Understand the potential downfalls when it comes to implementing portfolios with your students.
3. Identify the benefits of portfolios in your music classroom.
Student Learning Outcomes
By the end of this workshop, you will be able to:
1. Identify areas of growth you want students to achieve in your music classroom by having them create portfolios.
2. Think about ways to implement portfolios with your students by taking the ideas mentioned and making them your own.
3. Implement the creation of portfolios in your music classroom by making a plan of action.
