Course Description

Reconnect with the reason you wanted to become a teacher in the first place and articulate why you teach now. Your mission, or your “why”, will serve as a guidepost to create your vision. Action without intention, or intention without action, is meaningless. Your vision provides intention and, in this workshop, Jen will provide practical advice and examples to help you identify your why.

Course Objectives

During the workshop, you will:

1. Identify or re-identify your REAL why in becoming a teacher.

2. Recognize where stress occurs in your body before you feel it in your head.

3. Visualize what kind of energy shifts you want to experience at your school and in your classroom.

Student Learning Outcomes

By the end of this workshop, you will be able to:

1. Think about your story by reflecting back on why you wanted to become a teacher in the first place.

2. Think about why you get up to go to school every day by processing through the emotions you wrote down.

3. Align what’s happening externally with your mission by being in control of how you think about these things.

Jen Rafferty

Educator, author, and founder of Empowered Educator, Jen Rafferty started as a middle school music teacher for 15 years in Central New York.
