Course Description
Sensory Songs is a music and resource-based course that walks through the intricacies of sensory processing and shares sensory-based strategies for the music classroom. The concepts are intuitive, success-based, and easy to implement.
Course Objectives
1. Participants will assess a client’s sensory preferences through observation and discussion.
2. Participants will select appropriate music to honor and support the sensory systems of
their clients, guided by observation and assessment of their sensory preferences.
3. Participants will identify instruments, visuals, props, books and other tools
that may help support their client’s sensory systems.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of this course, you will be able to identify your own sensory preferences and tendencies.
By the end of this course, you will be able to identify sensory seeking or sensory avoiding behaviors that might be seen in a music classroom.
By the end of this course, you will be able to identify music tools to increase or decrease sensory input.
