Course Description
In freedom dreaming and working towards liberation, we can collectively affirm ourselves, our students, and our communities through music education. This workshop will be a brave, musical space for you to continue your necessary healing, create and speak truth to your own identify as a music educator, and activate yourself and the young musicians in your life to be change-makers in their own communities.
Course Objectives
During the workshop, you will:
1. Learn the importance of moving from a safe space to having a brave space in your classroom.
2. Understand the value of using affirmations with your students.
3. Identify how to dismantle the status quo.
Student Learning Outcomes
By the end of this workshop, you will be able to:
1. Include your students in creating a brave space by moving away from a safe space.
2. Use affirmations with your students by first practicing speaking some out loud.
3. Help your students to identify who they are by first identifying who you are.
