Course Description

Google is so much more than a search engine! In this workshop, you will learn how to use Google Workspace for increased productivity, organization, and efficiency in the music room. You’ll gain skills to optimize Google Drive, Chrome, Gmail, Calendar, and more. Discover strategies that will help you spend less time at the computer, and more time making music.

Course Objectives

During the workshop, you will:

1. Learn why Google is much more than a search engine.

2. Discover ways to use Google Workplace to increase your productivity.

3. Explore ways to use and organize the various functions of Google Drive.

Student Learning Outcomes

By the end of this workshop, you will be able to:

1. Organize your Google Drive by understanding how to arrange your items in a simpler and more efficient way.

2. Utilize functions of Gmail and Google calendar by learning new tips and tricks that are easy to apply.

3. Simplify slideshow creation by using Chrome extension shortcuts and strategies.

Theresa Hoover

Theresa Hoover is a music educator, speaker, and writer. She is an advocate for student voice in the music room and works to empower students throughout their musical experiences and help teachers transform their classrooms to become student-centered learning environments. Theresa has taught music in a variety of settings, most recently teaching middle school band in Northern Virginia. Theresa is a Google for Education Certified Trainer and Innovator, frequently working with teachers to help integrate technology into their music classes. She is the author of the book, Empowering Ensembles With Technology, and the co-author of Pass the Baton: Empowering All Music Students. Theresa is currently working towards a PhD in Music Learning and Teaching at Arizona State University and teaches undergraduate music education classes.
